“I love hidden beach. The friends of hidden beach project is essential to maintaining access and preserving the property. The community that gathers there is friendly, loving, family oriented and kind.” - Sue Corcoran
“Excited for this project the street ends access along the lake are a great resource and are well used by the community.” - Margaret Volchek
“I wholeheartedly support this plan to improve the Harrison Street street-end. I’ve been swimming at this beach since the 1980s, and my now adult kids grew up swimming there as well. It is a treasured place for members of the community and this improvement plan will make it even better, with native plantings, a new loading zone, and bike parking. Please approve it!” - David Shelton
“As a distant neighbor (half mile away in CD), I have been coming to the Hidden Beach year round for the past 50 years. First with our children and squeezing in a swim, launching small boats and floaties there, walking there and visiting with friends, and now swimming in the mornings in the summer. I have helped in cleanup parties for the past 40-50 years. I deeply value the access at Hidden Beach for people like us who don't own property on the lake. My understanding is that the city code states that streetends should be primarily used for public access. I strongly agree and encourage the city to follow that guidance, support the proposal and ensure this public property is preserved, green, and available for the use of the public for years to come.” - Bob Crittenden
“This street end beach is a treasure in our neighborhood and should be maintained and preserved from encroachment by adjacent property owners. I have lived nearby since 1961 and enjoyed the beach with my children and grandchildren and have participated in many cleanup and maintenance work parties.”
“This public space has for too long suffered from lack of oversight due to encroachment from neighbors on each side, and this project would help restore and realize the potential of this special park, serving as a model to other shoreline street ends in the city.”
“We have been taking our children, out-of-town-guests to this wonderful beach park for decades. This is a beautiful and thoughtful rendering of how truly wonderful it can be. Native plants, bike parking, a clear beach, and above all, a committed community of people who love this spot. WE NEED IT!”
“This is a wonderful plan - I love that it celebrates the best of what Hidden Beach has been for generations, while making a real commitment to making sure it will last for the future. Bike parking alone would be transformative, and so glad all these elements together will enhance this wonderful public space, and keep it as a community treasure for decades to come.”
“People who love this street-end come to relax, read, picnic, swim, and gaze at the view of Lake Washington. I urge you to support this proposal which will protect, improve and enhance the natural setting and the public's ability to access it without spoiling what has made it such a special place for generations of Seatteites.”
“What a wonderful plan! This little beach is one of our favorite places in the whole city. My toddlers first time in the water, our dogs happy place, and our launch spot for SUPing. This would be a beautiful upgrade to a treasured spot.”
“The E Harrison Street End proposal will add more native plantings, green up the entrance that has been scarred by years of construction, respectfully push back encroachments on public land, and ensure that public space is clearly defined and preserved for swimmers, beach bums, paddle boarders, and morning walkers. Hidden Beach should remain a Seattle gem—always and forever.” - Daniel Spils
